Model management

BiC provides you with two ways to managing BIM models.

First, you can upload a model as you would any document.  See the “Documents” section for more information.   Second, you can upload the model by connecting the model to a specific building.  For this method see the “Buildings” section of this manual.

The differences between these two methods are significant.   In the first case, you can view and interrogate the model.   In the second manner, all the information contained in the BIM model will be automatically imported into BiC, automatically populating the database.

Linking to a building allows you to reference and link to information about the objects contained in the model.

The ability to harness the power of this building related information will be demonstrated in the “Spaces” and “Add” sections of this document.

You can also connect multiple models, separate but coordinated, into federated model management.

BiC allows the federated management of BIM models
